Can Neurofeedback Training Help With Focus Issues?

Focusing can be a great challenge for some people. Whether a result of ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) or a chaotic, daily life, having trouble concentrating can not only be aggravating, but also discouraging. Sometimes, when you have so many tasks to complete and difficulty focusing on one thing at a time, you may become too overwhelmed to start doing anything at all. This could even lead to a loss of motivation.

However, you shouldn’t have to deal with focus and attention issues, and luckily, there are ways to confront this problem. One of them is neurofeedback.

Neurofeedback training, also known as braincore therapy, is a type of brain-training program. The goal is to regulate a patient’s brainwave patterns by offering positive brain reinforcement to help improve his or her ability to focus, among other things. Dysregulated brainwaves could be the cause of concentration problems, so addressing this with the help of neurofeedback training could be just what you need to see a promising change.

A neurofeedback session starts with the patient seated or lying down. The neurofeedback provider overseeing the appointment will place sensors on the patient’s head, which will monitor his or her brainwave patterns while a movie or TV show is on. The program a patient chooses must be engaging in order for the session to be productive, but it’s recommended that anything containing violence should be avoided. This passive engagement the brain is partaking in could help it learn to produce a regulated pattern.

When the brain produces regulated brainwave patterns, it could lead to many positive improvements in one’s life.

Neurofeedback training could not only help you with focus and attention issues, but also with stress. When you’re not worrying about your inability to concentrate, you’ll likely experience lower stress and anxiety levels. Plus, this non-invasive therapy may also improve your sleeping habits and memory.

While neurofeedback training poses several benefits, it’s important to get an expert’s opinion before receiving treatment.

A consultation with a trained neurofeedback provider could help identify your health issues, along with the proper treatment. A customized brain map, or treatment plan, will be created, which recommends the optimal number of weekly sessions and duration. Depending on the severity of your condition, you may notice positive changes in just a few sessions!
