How Often Should I See a Chiropractor?

If you suffer from neck, joint, back or any other kind of physical pain, going to a chiropractor is one natural option that can prove to be very beneficial. So before you take a trip to your local convenience store for that temporary fix—over-the-counter pain medication—consider how chiropractic can help you to heal and recover so that you can enjoy your life free from pain.

Chiropractic has been growing in acceptance as a significant treatment for back and neck pain, especially. According to a 2015 study by Gallup, approximately half of adults in the United States have been to a chiropractor, and many of them “believe chiropractic is an effective way to treat back and neck pain.”

Chiropractors present non-intimidating, non-invasive and most of all, effective ways to address pain and other health challenges. Some patients utilize these treatments to heal a specific condition while others depend on chiropractic adjustments as a means of health care maintenance and prevention.

So, how often should you see a chiropractor for an adjustment?

Chiropractic care is not a one-size-fits all approach. A consultation and evaluation with your chiropractor will help determine how often you need to be treated to heal a specific condition, as well as the benefits of maintenance care to prevent new ones from occurring in the future.

If you are suffering from a severe injury or chronic spine and joint pain, our chiropractor may initially recommend up to three visits per week and then wean from there. If you are experiencing only minor aches and pains, one visit per week may be enough to help you regain your strength and mobility. Still, many people see a chiropractor for health maintenance, which could include one weekly, bi-weekly or monthly visit.

The number of your chiropractic visits will depend upon your unique presentation and health care goals. A consultation and evaluation by your chiropractor will help to asses the severity of your condition, symptoms and pain and the most effective treatment and recovery program, which could include additional treatments such as physical therapy and/or 3D spinal decompression therapy to help improve your condition.

Take the first step toward relieving your pain and experiencing a greater quality of life by contacting a chiropractor you can trust to partner with you in your health so that you can become educated and feel confident on your path to optimal health.
